0800 and 0808 freephone numbers are free to call from all UK telephones including EE handsets. However numbers which start with other prefixes such as 0843, 0844, 0845, 0870 and 0871 are not free to call from any device as these are service numbers.
Freephone 08 numbers
Freephone numbers which start with either an 0800 or 0808 prefix are free to call for all EE landline and mobile customers. Furthermore any inclusive minutes on your monthly or pay as you go tariff will not be used when calling freephone numbers, making them truly free of charge.
08 service numbers
Service numbers which start with 0843, 0844, 0845, 0870 and 0871 prefixes are not free to call from any EE telephone, nor will you be able to use free minutes to make the call. These numbers may be substantially more expensive to call for mobile customers so in the unlikely circumstance that you have to phone an 08 service number please consider calling from a landline device.
