What are 0844 numbers
0844 numbers are used throughout the UK as sales hotlines whereby the customer pays a higher proportion of the call cost compared to standard-rate numbers beginning with 01, 02 and 03 prefixes. They used to be commonplace however Ofcom banned their use as post-sales helplines in July 2015.
