0871 numbers along with 0872 and the popular 0870 hotline numbers are the most expensive type of service number used in the UK, with the exception of only premium-rate 09 and 118 numbers which can be many times more costly to call. If you are an O2 customer you will have to pay a per-minute rate of 13p plus an access charge which is 45p for Pay & Go SIM-only customers and 55p for monthly contracted customers. You should also note that you cannot use any inclusive free minutes (which may or may not be included as part of your tariff arrangement) when dialling 0871 numbers from an O2 phones.
